The Fire Seeker

Out on the plains in the middle of the night

No one around me not one star in sight

I sit huddled in the dark thinking about life

And the many wonders my soul has in store for me, my future looks so bright

Taking care of the family and the community are my responsibilities it’s true

A task so hard to do

I tried to pass along the duties to my brother Okechu

He was too tired, lazy and plain

This is my destiny; the stars show the signs of my eternal game

Out in the night, I go to seek the treasure

My family and kids kiss and hold me tight, knowing the nature of the weather

A provider, father and friend

That’s the way my family see’s me, that’s the way it has always been

Until that day I had to keep everyone alive, seeking fire, the only way to survive

Painful choices, tribe, family or me

Life isn’t always fair, that’s the way it has to be

Only one choice is clear, looking at you from over here

I will go and find the answer to our problems

That answer will not come in the form of items, not even beautiful gems

The fire I seek we have already found

In the smile of a grandchild, their fate depended on me to unbound.

No worries only smiles, as I shake and suffer the pain of the heat

I have reached the stars, their knowledge I bring back for my family to eat

That night I kept you safe and warm, the fire I found helped our baby to be born

Now I see you in the plains harvesting under the warmth of the sun

I wish I could hold you and tell you “I love you hun”

Self-sacrifice is the ultimate tool of love

Its softness flies by unnoticed, sweetness like a dove

Seeking fire is what I had to do

Even if it means giving up my life, that I will always do for you

The tears of the GODS is what everyone believed it to be

I know that those tears they fall from the eyes of someone called me

To shower you and my family with love and nourishment, this I’m glad to see

The seeds of the earth all standing high, reach down and grab one touching the sky

We are never lost, hated or rejected

We have ultimate love, our ancestors they projected

Their love and light, rains down on us tonight

To bring us back into the place of heat, our fires shall join together and unite.

To bring forth a world of younger fire seekers full of love and life

My job is done, my time to rest and feel alright

I have never left and will always be here

One day we will meet again, in the place they call heaven over there

And I will tell you the biggest secret of all time

That the fire that I sought will forever and always be mine

Now its time to go and find adventure and bring my heart into the light

Your smile will always power life, that’s the reason I shine so bright
